Q: What advice would you give someone who wants lose weight?

Three tips:

1. Seek advice and support from health professionals you can trust

2. Prioritise your health and don't fear spending time, effort and money on it. Your health is your greatest asset and the rewards last a lifetime

3. Learn from past weight loss attempts: don't repeat them if they didn't work in the long term. You need to try something different to get different results.

Q: Every person you see has different needs and goals, so how do you help them lose weight?

A: I get to know every Wesley Weight Management Clinic client and what affects their weight. I talk to them about their family, their job, their hobbies and their lifestyle.

Most Wesley Weight Management Clinic clients appreciate the importance of good nutrition and exercise, but lack the ability to translate this understanding into their own lives. I help them to find diet and exercise strategies that suit their lifestyle.

Q: What part of working at the Wesley Weight Management Clinic do you enjoy the most?

A: Seeing people every week for up to a year and being part of their weight loss success. When a client finishes their weight loss program and leaves the Wesley Weight Management Clinic it's bittersweet: it's lovely to see them feeling happy and healthy but I miss the weekly updates and the friendship that we develop.
