Exercise Physiologist Melissa Clem
Q: What does an Exercise Physiologist do?
A: Exercise Physiologists design cardiovascular and strength training programs to help people achieve their health and fitness goals. These goals might include weight loss, rehabilitation from injury or improvement in strength.
Q: So how is an Exercise Physiologist different to a Personal Trainer?
An Exercise Physiologist is a university qualified health professional. We educate people about their health and fitness and empower them with the tools to perform the right type and intensity of exercise to achieve their goals.
Q: Do your clients have to be fit to do the exercises you show them?
A: Certainly not: regardless of a person's size or level of fitness; we can find a way to motivate them to move more. For some people this means a change from being completely sedentary to walking for 10 minutes a day.
Q: Why is exercise an important component of weight loss?
A: Exercise ensures healthy weight loss. It is also great for blood pressure, cholesterol levels and mental health.
Q: What is your favourite form of exercise?
A: Dancing: I love dancing; and I'm a strong believer of choosing a form of exercise that you enjoy.
