Key Features of our Weight Loss Program
-
Excellent results: since 1999 the Wesley Weight Management Clinic has treated more than 5000 people, with results published in credible medical and health publications
-
A structured weight loss program that emphasises long term behaviour change
-
Low calorie, healthy meal plans (we do not use very low calorie diets). If your patient wants to reduce their exposure to food-related cues they have the option of using low calorie and nutritionally balanced meal replacements under health professional supervision, followed by a transition back to a normal diet
-
Holistic care, including weekly appointments with Dietitians or Exercise Physiologists (view a schematic of our clinical model (PDF, 55KB)
-
An initial assessment by a Doctor to document existing medical conditions and arrange routine blood screening prior to your patient starting a weight loss program. Our Doctors liaise with our Dietitians to ensure that existing medical conditions are taken into account when devising meal plans and can liaise with GPs and specialists if patients' medications require alteration
-
Subsequent medical appointments to monitor your patient's progress and discuss the results of routine blood tests
-
An Exercise Physiology appointment to determine your patient's exercising heart rate zone for optimal fat loss and their Resting Metabolic Rate. The Exercise Physiologist will guide your patient through a 40 - 60 minute heart rate monitored walk and analyse their lactate levels via a finger prick test
- An Exercise Physiology appointment to design a resistance-based exercise program for your patient and review their posture and technique
- Assessment by a Psychologist (extra Psychology appointments may be arranged if required)
- Ongoing liaison with referring GP or specialist
- Strategies for long term weight maintenance and treatment of any weight re-gain.
