Felicity Feels 18 Again
Felicity Davidson's three year old twin boys call her "the amazing shrinking Mummy". In less than a year Felicity has gone from a size 20 to a size 12 and is the picture of health and vitality.
"I walk every day, play tennis twice a week and feel 18 again," Felicity said with a huge smile.
Felicity said she gained weight after having her twin boys and taking on full time study at the same time.
"I was so rushed off my feet trying to look after the boys and meeting my assignment deadlines that I fell into bad habits of eating fast food and not exercising enough," she said.
"I wasn't looking after myself, I just did whatever I felt I needed to get myself through. And I have to say I was relying on chocolate to get me through the late nights."
Felicity said she, like a lot of women, ended up on the diet treadmill.
"I knew I had to do something and tried just about every diet there was," she said.
"It was pretty soul destroying, because it's nearly impossible to stick to a diet long term. And whenever I 'fell off the diet wagon' I felt like a failure."
Felicity joined a weight loss program at the Wesley Weight Management Clinic on recommendation of her husband, a GP.
"He told me about his patients who had turned their lives around in six months with the help of the Clinic. So I got on the website and was inspired by the success stories of ordinary people like me.
"I knew straight away that this was no bandaid fix. That I would have to work hard, but I knew I would have a team of health professionals behind me."
With the support of the Clinic's team of Doctors, Dietitians, Exercise Physiologists and Psychologists, Felicity lost 36.5kgs in 11 months.
Felicity says the amazing thing about her weight loss program was that she never felt hungry.
"I eat three meals a day and two healthy snacks. I think the two snacks are the key to not getting unstuck. If you don't let yourself get hungry you won't be reaching for the chocolate bar."
Felicity says the Clinic's Dietitians changed her whole attitude towards food.
"I now know what each food group gives me in terms of nutrition, calories and energy levels. I plan my meals and I don't eat spontaneously any more. If I have a chocolate bar I know I will work it off by exercising.
"I am allowed to eat anything... in moderation."
Felicity plays tennis twice a week and walks daily,
"I've always played tennis, but now that I'm fit I can move faster and get those drop shots.
"I feel like I'm 18 again, I have so much energy. When I take the twins to the park I now play with them without feeling breathless.
"They wear themselves out before I do," she laughs.
