A Healthy Mum is a Happy Mum

Fiona Paterson's two young daughters, Bella and Sophia are her pride and joy and her inspiration for losing 28kgs. Fiona's daughters were her inspiration behind her weight loss

Like any Mother, the 41-year-old Gold Coast resident's first priority is her family; but through her weight loss program at Wesley Weight Management's Gold Coast Clinic, Fiona has learnt that it is possible to fulfil the duties of a busy Mother whilst also taking care of herself.

For Fiona it was a matter of reprioritising. She found that the advice and support offered at the Clinic, as well as the structured nature of her weight loss program allowed her to achieve small changes consistently, helping her establish new and healthy behaviours that are sustainable for life.

Swapping the shopping trolley and vacuum cleaner for an exercise bike and heart rate monitor, Fiona has discovered a new lease on life,

Fiona has more energy following her weight loss"The household duties still get done, but the exercise and healthy eating make me feel good so now they come first. Now I have so much more energy for my girls and a renewed enthusiasm for exercise."

After ceasing breastfeeding, Fiona struggled to adjust her food intake, trying a number of diets without any long term success. She regained any lost weight because she wasn't taught how to change her lifestyle for permanent weight loss. Fiona comments,

"At the Wesley Weight Management Clinic I received expert exercise and nutrition advice tailored to my lifestyle as a busy full time Mum. That personalised advice was by far the most valuable component of my weight loss program. The insight I gained into managing emotional triggers for my eating was also a big realisation for me.

"I wanted to exercise in the comfort of my own home without having to drag the girls to busy gyms or packed workout classes, so my Exercise Physiologist recommended an exercise bike. My heart rate monitor was also a fantastic investment - I knew exactly what intensity to exercise at for maximum weight loss."

Fiona learnt to better manage her food intake over the day and loves the fact that she can eat regularly and still enjoy food when she is out - it's all about balance. She beams,

"I even travelled overseas on a six week holiday and hardly gained a kilo."

Fiona says that the Wesley Weight Management Clinic weight loss program is one of the best things she has ever done for herself,

"I want to know that I have done everything I can do to be the healthiest Mother and wife that I can be. I am glad that I have had the opportunity to instill healthy behaviours in my children; it's how I want my girls to grow up. "

Fiona has now rekindled her love for swimming, and is setting her sights on the possibility of entering competitive distance races. Her smile and newfound confidence say it all.
